Videocon Industries Ltd. Is a conglomerate Indian company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It has many manufacturing sites in India and plants in Mainland China, Italy, Mexico and Poland. Videocon Industries Ltd. Claims to be the third picture tube manufacturer in the world. Its main areas of business are home appliances and consumer electronics and recently expanded areas such as DTH, power, telecommunication and oil exploration.
In India, Videocon Group sells consumer products such as microwave ovens, washing machines, refrigerator, colour televisions, air conditioners and many other home appliances.
In November 2009, Videocon launched its new line in mobile phones. In February 2011, Videocon Mobile phones hitherto unknown concept of “Zero” paisa per second in about 7 handset models. Videocon Mobiles launched its own flagship smartphone Videocon A55HD in India. In 2009 Videocon ‘d2h’ its DTH product. Videocon offered LCD & TVs with built-in DTH satellite as a pioneering offer in the Indian DTH market.
On 7 April 2010, Videocon Telecommunications Ltd. Got the licence for mobile service operations across India. And in retail market, Videocon own three retail brands; PlanetM, Digiworld and Next. On 23 May 2008, Videocon announced to studying an invitation from General Electric(GE) to bid for its century-old appliances division, which has put up for sale.
