GODREJ GROUP OF COMPANY
The Godrej group of company is an Indian conglomerate whose headquarter is in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. In 1897 the company was founded by Ardeshir Godrej and Pirojsha Godrej. And operates in sectors as real estates, furniture, appliance, industrial engineering, consumer products, agriculture products, and security. Godrej makes its first Indian safe in 1902 and now it is one of the best in manufacturing security systems. In 1994 Transelektra Domestic Products acquired and transelektra renamed Godrej Sara Lee Limited and incorporated Godrej Infotech ltd in 1999.
Godrej consumer products was formed in 2001 and made a big change in FMCG then it set up godrej Tea Limited in 2002. And in 2006 foods business was merged with Godrej Teaand it renamed Godrej Beverages & Foods Limited. And later it formed a joint venture with the Hershey Company of North America. Godrej consumer products Ranks 6th in ET-Hewitt Best Employers of India survey. And it entered the BPO solutions and services with Godrej Global Solution Ltd. In 2010 Godrej launched ‘GoJiyo’, afree browser based 3D virtual world. In 2011, Godrej & Boyce shuts down its typewriter manufacturing plant, last in the world. The company awarded the Corporate Citizen of the year Award given by Economic Times. Godrej Consumer Products are in the Top 25th list of Great Place to Work consecutively 4 times and awarded the ‘Best Managed Workforce’ given by Hewitt Associates and CNBC TV18. Godrej Industries got the Lifetime Achievement Award from CHEMEXCIL.
The Godrej group can be broadly divided into two major holding companies, which are working independently. these are Godrej Industries Ltd. And Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. Who works in several sectors like;
