MARUTI COMPANY

Maruti Suzuki India limited is a Indian automobile manufacturer company referred as a ‘Maruti’ formely known as Maruti udhyog limited whose headquarters are at No.1, Nelson Mandela Road, New Delhi. It is subsidiary of Japanese company ‘Suzuki’ which are the manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles. Its history started in 1970, when a private limited company MTSPL provided technical knowledge about how to design, manufacture and assembly of “complete indigenous car”. later Sanjay Gandhi became its first managing director  company called ‘Maruti limited’. In 1982, A company of Japan ‘Suzuki’ and Maruti udhyog limited made a joint venture agreement (JVA) and license.

The company manufactured many automobiles and among them Maruti 800 and a minibus version Omni are very successful. In 1994, Maruti Suzuki produces its 1 millionth vehicle being the first company in India to do so since the commencement of production. And this is still not enough in booming market, Maruti’s second plant is opened in next year with around 200000 units annual capacity. In 2000, the company becomes the first car company in India to launch a call center for internal and customer services.

Maruti and Suzuki set up another joint venture, “Maruti Suzuki Automobiles India” in 2006 to build two manufacturing plants, one for engines another for vehicles. R.C.Bharava was the initial managing director since the inception of joint venture. The Gurgaon, India manufacturing facilities has three fully integrated manufacturing plants spread over 300 acres with 350000 vehicle annual capacity but productivity improvement enable upto 9,00,000 vehicles.

As of March 2014, in all states and union territories of India, Maruti Suzuki has 933 dealerships and has 3,013 service stations inclusive of Maruti Authorised Service Stations and dealer workshops. It has 30 Express Service Stations on 30 National Highways across 1,436 cities in India.
