TATA Motors is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturing company formerly known as TELCO short for Tata engineering and locomotive company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, is a subsidiary of Tata group. Its main products are trucks, vans, coaches, passengers cars, military vehicles, buses, coaches and construction equipments. Tata motors is the fourth largest truck manufacturer, seventeenth largest motor vehicle manufacturer and second largest bus manufacturer company by volume. Tata Motors has auto manufacturing assembly plants in Pantnagar, Jamshedpur, Pune, Dhanbad, Lucknow and Sananand in India and in South Africa, Thailand, Argentina and the United Kingdom outside India. Tata motors has researches and development centres in Pune,
Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and lucknow in India and in Spain, South Korea and United Kingdom. It makes some joint ventures with Hitachi, Fiat and some other company.

Tata entered the commercial vehicle sector in 1945 after forming a joint venture with Germany. Tata motors entered the passenger market by launching the Tata Sierra, a multi utility vehicle in India. In 1998, Tata launches Indica the first fully indigenous passenger car which was very successful in India. In 2008, it launches the world’s most affordable car named Tata Nano. The success of Tata indica played a key role in the growth of Tata Motors.
Tata Motors Lucknow plant was awarded in2009, the ‘best of all’ Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award. In 2013,Tata Motors announced the first vehicle in the world to run on compressed air and dubbed “Mini CAT” to sell in India. Tata Motor’s principal subsidiaries include Tata Daewoo, Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Hispano.
Tata Motor Cars is a division of Tata motors to produces passenger cars under the Tata Motors marquee. Tata also has joint venture/franchisee assembly operations in Kenya, Ukraine, Senegal Bangladesh and Russia and it has dealerships in 26 countries across 4 continents.
