LG Corporation earlier known as Lucky Goldstar is a South Korean multinational conglomerate corporation is the fourth largest chaebol in South Korea headquartered in the LG Twin Towers Building in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeongpo-gu, Seoul. LG makes telecom, chemical and electronic products and operates subsidiaries  such as LG Display, Zenith, LG Electronics, LG Chem and LG Telecom in various countries.

The founder of LG Corp. Koo In-Hwoi established Lak-Hui Chemical Industrial Corp. in 1947. Lak-Hui became the first Korean company to enter the plastic industry to expand the plastic business in 1952. It established GoldStar Co. Ltd, and in 1958, both companies Lucky and GoldStar merged and formed Lucky Goldstar.
In 1996, LG formed a joint venture with IBM and later it was terminated. In April 2007, LG Chemical was split into three separate companies, LG Chem, LGCI and LG Household & Health Care. Later LG Chem merge with LG Petrochemical. On January 2013, LG has become Second largest in U.S. market share over apple. On 7th October 2013, comScore reported that of the June 2013 U.S. Smartphone Subscriber Market Share that found LG down to fifth place in the U.S. mobile market share.
