Kingston Technology Corporation is an American, privately held, multinational computer Technology Corporation that develops, manufactures, sells and supports flash memory products and other computer-related memory products. The company employs more than 4,000 people worldwide as of Q1 2014. Kingston Technology is the largest independent producer of DRAM memory modules, currently owning 53% of the
third-party worldwide DRAM module market share, according to IHS. The company is also the 2ndlargest supplier of flash memory. According to Gartner, Kingston is the world’s 2nd ranked supplier of USB drives, world’s 4th ranked supplier of flash drive and world’s 5th ranked supplier of solid state drives. Kingston serves an international network of distributors, resellers, retailers and OEM customers on six continents. The company also provides contract manufacturing and supply chain management services for semiconductor manufacturers and system OEMs. Kingston is also one of the world’s leading memory module manufacturing, module validation, semiconductor packaging and test companies in the world.Kingston Technology was founded on October 17, 1987. Taiwan immigrants John Tu and David Sun drew on their engineering expertise and designed a new SIMM that used readily available, older-technology through-hole components. The following year the company branched out into its first non-memory product line, processor upgrades. By 1992, Kingston was ranked 1stby Inc. as the fastest-growing privately held company in America. The company expanded into storage and networking product lines, and introduced DataTraveler and DataPark portable products. In 1994, Kingston became ISO 9000 certified on its first assessment attempt.
In 2013, Kingston generated revenues of US$6.0 billion. Forbes ranked Kingston as 94th on its list of “The 500 Largest Private Companies in the U.S.” and 1st in the Technology Hardware and Equipment category. iSuppli has ranked Kingston as the world’s 1stmemory module manufacturer for the third-party memory market for six consecutive years from 2005-2010. In September 2006, Kingston Technology received Intel’s “Outstanding Supplier Award for Exceptional Support, Quality and Timely delivery of FB-DIMM Products”. In April 2003, Kingston received the “Diverse Supplier Award for Best Overall Performance” from Dell. The company also appeared on Fortune’s list of “100 Best Companies to Work For” for five consecutive years from 1998-2002. In 2001, it was listed by IndustryWeek as a “Top 5 Global Manufacturing Company”.
Kingston Technology has manufactured various types of Pen Drive models which are Personal Drives, Encrypted Drives and Windows To Go Drives.
Kingston Technology manufactures many other products which are memory cards, solid state drives, RAM, compact flash cards, card readers, wireless devices and embedded storage.
